American Learning Center

American Learning Center Romania is the newest addition to the American Councils for International Education network, bringing over 25 years of American Councils' experience in international education, exchange and language learning to Bucharest. We currently offer three core programs: Speak Like a Native, our American English conversation course built around real spoken fluency and confidence, not just grammar; SAT Preparation, delivered by instructors trained at top American institutions; and our Debate Club, taught in American formats such as Public Forum and Lincoln-Douglas by experienced national-level coaches. Beyond the classroom, we are building a community grounded in American values, including open dialogue, critical thinking and civic engagement, through events, workshops and a network that connects our students to American Councils' alumni worldwide, including FLEX and other U.S. exchange program graduates based in Romania.

Vision

In a world that is more interconnected and fast-changing than ever, American Learning Center Romania prepares students to become confident, capable global citizens, equipped not only with English fluency, but with the critical thinking, persuasive speaking and academic skills to pursue opportunities anywhere in the world.

Why?

Fluency in English and command of American academic and communication standards open doors to higher education, global careers and international community. We believe every student in Romania deserves access to that opportunity, delivered with the same quality and rigor found at the best institutions in the United States.

Mission

Our mission is to deliver high-quality, American-standard courses through qualified, experienced instructors, in small groups where every student is seen and supported. As we grow, we aim to expand our course offerings and our community, connecting students, families and alumni across Romania to each other and to the wider American Councils network.world.
