Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’

4/4 For Friends

About

The Embassy of the United States in Romania together with the American Councils for International Education invites you to join the 4/4 for Friends project. We hope that the thoughts expressed by the remarkable American activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "The most urgent and insistent question of life is: what are you doing for others?" will inspire you!

After an online edition last year, it's now time to get back on the ground for 10 days of good deeds. Through the 4/4ForFriends project we are honouring the impressive legacy left by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. And we celebrate the values of volunteerism and friendship nationwide.

Following the model of the United States of America, which celebrates Volunteer Month in April, 4/4ForFriends is intended to recognise the work volunteers do for their fellow human beings.

Created in his memory, the 4/4ForFriends project aims to celebrate the values of volunteering and friendship at national level. In creating the event, we were strongly inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s work, his determination, courage and noble ideals.

Q & A

What kind of activities can we organise for this event?

We encourage the organisation of volunteering events in all thematic areas: education, environment, charity, etc. Let your imagination run wild and create interesting activities in different environments that allow volunteers to socialise and make a positive impact. Don't limit yourself on the theme to be addressed for your event.

Where do we send pictures after the activities?

Photos will be uploaded to a folder for each coordinator in Google Drive or emailed to

44pentruprieteni@americancouncils.org

Note: minimum one photo maximum 15 representative of activities and photo-video material.

Is there an age limit for participation in the events from 1-10 April?

Not at all! We are never too young or too old to do a good deed. Plus, we love diversity!

Can we attract local partners for the volunteering events we organise (for those who organise)?

Of course! The power of good deeds is even greater if we get more of us together. We invite you to spread the word to those in your community and maybe convince them to join as partners of any kind (media, educational, logistical, financial, etc...).

If we are an institution that wants to organise more events, how do we sign them up?

For a clearer record of events, please list each volunteering action separately. Fill in an online form for each action and we will take care of the centralisation. If we have any questions, we will contact you as soon as we receive the form.

If we want to make promotional materials for the event on 1-10 April, what rules do we have to follow?

If you would like to make some promotional materials for the event you are hosting, then please put the following on the materials: A 4/4 ForFriends event, organized in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Romania and the American Councils for International Education. And if you want to add logos, please add the following logos: project logo, Embassy logo, American Councils logo (you can find them on the website under Partners).
